Consistency
It’s crazy what staying consistent can do to help you reach your fitness goals. It will always be difficult at first to become consistent. But once you do I can promise you it is smooth sailing from there.
.
It is so easy to get discouraged and jump off your consistency train if you don’t see results right away. But it is so important to understand that it takes about 3 weeks of regular, consistent work to gain strength and stamina. And as long as 6 weeks to start to see the results most of us are looking for. Don’t ever lose sight of that. Because that donut with WILL make a difference. That fancy Starbucks drink WILL make a difference. Those little things you come up with an excuse for WILL make a difference.
.
No you don’t need to reward yourself for losing a few pounds. Sure it is OK to enjoy yourself once a week for a night out. But do not make a day out of it. The minute you start justifying your actions you will become consistent with them. Then they will become a habit. And you do not want to create bad habits again once you start to create good ones. Keep those good habits rolling and stay consistent.
.
Ok so you had a really big cheat meal. Do not binge. Do not get discouraged. You know the old saying “Oh, I’ve already ruined my good eating today. I’ll just eat crap” is like saying “Oh, I dropped my phone on the floor. I’ll just smash it till it breaks.” Do not do that! Accept the fact you enjoyed yourself for a meal and get right back on track. Get back to consistency. This is something I have done time after time and I have ruined all what I have fought for after weeks of hard work. I would get on this crazy unhealthy eating binge because I thought to myself “I already screwed up so what difference is eating more going to make?” It sounds so stupid to me now but at the time I just didn’t care. I was allowing myself to set myself even future back because of my stupid decisions. Don’t set yourself back.
.
I can honestly say that I have been consistent since the New Year. I stopped “smashing my phone”. I stopped buying fancy drinks with cream and sugar. I stopped buying pastries to go with my coffees in the morning. I stopped accepting snacks given to me at work throughout the day. I’ve stopped creating excuses as to why I couldn’t get my cardio and abs in each day.
.
Stop creating excuses for yourself. You want to create a difference then MAKE a difference. It is all up to you.
.
I finally am seeing the biggest difference in my body. And it is because of consistency. Constantly making healthy decisions. Even when I go out to dinner I am not eating the free bread. Something as simple as that makes a BIG difference. Just constantly make healthy decisions. Those decisions add up in the long run. Trust me. I can finally see my abs! And it makes me so proud of myself. Feeling proud of yourself feels a lot better than cheating yourself out on your goals. Don’t do that. Those goals deserve every ounce of effort. Give it to them.
.
Give it all you got. And have fun with it. You need to find a way to love the consistency. Your body will love you back in the long run. Just stay consistent.
